After Telangana, it appears, the BJP is now setting its eyes on Andhra Pradesh. It wants to improve the party in Andhra Pradesh and prepare it for the 2024 elections, which are going to be crucial for the BJP. As part of it, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit Andhra Pradesh on June 4, while BJP national president JP Nadda would pay a visit on June 7.

Modi will take part in the Alluri Sitaramaraju birth anniversary celebrations in Bhimavaram of West Godavari, while Nadda will address a public meeting in Rajahmundry of East Godavari. Thus, the two top leaders will focus on the twin Godavari districts. BJP sources say that Nadda will guide the party workers on preparing for 2024 elections .

The BJP has already indicated that there is not going to be any alliance with the Telugu Desam. It has made it clear that it would contest from Atmakur, where a bypoll would soon be held, regardless of the TDP. The TDP has decided not to contest the election. Thus, the BJP has shown that it can think and work independent of the TDP.

These two programmes are likely to queer the pitch for the BJP in Andhra Pradesh. It may be recalled that Modi, Amit Shah and Nadda visited Telangana in a space of just 30 days. Andhra too is likely to see a deluge of top BJP leaders' visits in the days to come.
