Kannadigas Verdict Marks Modi's Countdown

Update: 2018-03-28 05:32 GMT
Karnataka Assembly Polls scheduled to happen on May 12th is going to be very crucial for BJP and Anti-Modi Forces. This verdict could have a big impact on upcoming Assembly Polls in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhatisgarh and Mizoram. Even the alliances for 2019 Lok Sabha Polls will be based on the verdict given by Kannadigas.

BJP is determined to win in Karnataka after setback in the recent by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan. On the other hand, The existence of the Congress will be questioned if it loses power in Karnataka as well. Either Congress or BJP could form government in Karnataka. Janata Dal (S) led by HD Deve Gowda is only hoping to be part of hung assembly.

The recent poll survey has favoured Congress in Karnataka. Decision of CM Siddaramaiah to recommend separate Religion Status for Lingayatas, comprising of 17 percent voters, is a clever move.

However, History is in favour of BJP as Kannadigas hasn't given power to any party for two terms at a stretch in the past three decades, since 1989. Not much anti-incumbency against Siddaramaiah Government is a positive sign for Congress. Yeddyurappa came to power in 2008 with the sympathy that JD (S) had cheated him. In 2013, Congress formed government highlighting the corruption of BJP. This time, Lingayats could be deciding who is gonna form government.
