Modi's praise of Azad keeps Congress confused

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's fulsome praise of Opposition leader Ghulam Nabi Azad is being viewed with lot of suspicion in the Congress Party. On Monday, Modi lavishly praised Ghulam Nabi Azad on his retirement from Rajya Sabha.

Modi became teary-eyed while recalling Azad's cooperation when some Gujarati tourists were under attack by militants. Azad not only treated them like his own kin and had even arranged a flight for them to reach back Gujarat. He said Azad made significant contribution not just for the party, but also to the country. He said Azad would be missed in Rajya Sabha, he said. Even Azad became emotional on hearing Modi's speech.

But, the Congress leaders were none too happy with this lavish praise. Azad is now considered a dissident in the Congress ever since he wrote a letter demanding internal democracy in the party. The Congress also is in no mood to renominate him to the Rajya Sabha. This praise by Modi has only helped to heighten the suspicion against him.
