The Political crisis in Madhya Pradesh which was kickstarted with the Congress leader, four-time parliamentarian Jyotiraditya Scindia resigning the Congress party has deepened further and 19 of his loyalists quitting their assembly membership.
This pushes the Congress party to face a floor test to prove its strength in the state assembly which might turn very ugly for the Congress party as the difference between the BJP and Congress in terms of the MLAs is very thin.
The Congress party has a strength of 119 MLA seats with the help of BSP (4 MLAs) and SP (1 MLA) which doesn't look too good looking at the current political crisis. If the Speaker accepts the resignation of the 19 Congress MLAs, the total strength of the house will come down to 209 and the magic number for forming the government will be 105.
If this happens the strength of the Congress party will be restricted to just 95 MLAs while the BJP is still holding the strength of 109 MLAs in the house. The BJP's strength is quite comfortable to form the government.
Reports emerged that Scindia might get a Rajya Sabha seat from one of the seats in MP for which the polls will be commenced soon. There is a chance for him to get even a ministership in Modi's government if he joins the saffron party.
