MS Dhoni's Fighting Knock Helps him create a Record

Update: 2022-03-27 11:54 GMT
The inaugural match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League(IPL) was an emotional moment for the cricket fans and Chennai Super Kings fans as Dhoni had stepped onto the field as a player. The match played yesterday was the first match after he had handed over his captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja.

With CSK losing early wickets, MS Dhoni had started his innings at a slow pace and his innings saw a sudden shift in the gears when it was needed. His fighting knock of half-century helped CSK to put up a defending total of 131 for the loss of five wickets.

The crucial partnership he had with skipper Jadeja was special that he ended up creating a new record and bringing a half-century after almost three years. Mahendra Singh Dhoni had emerged as the oldest player in the IPL to score a half-century.

By breaking the record made by Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, Mahendra Singh Dhoni became the oldest player to make a half-century.

However, Dhoni's heroics and the crucial partnership he had with Jadeja went in vain as the CSK had lost the first match to the Kolkata Knight Riders. The KKR team had outsmarted the CSK team and cashed down the target a bit comfortably.
