Padma Bhushan For Dhoni On Landmark Day

Update: 2018-04-02 13:45 GMT
Mahendra Singh Dhoni is being conferred Padma Bhushan by the President of India Today (April 2nd, 2018). It was on the same day Jharkhand Dynamite led India to victory in ICC World Cup final seven years ago.

At the final held at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Dhoni hit the winning six over bowler's head to create history. That moment will always stay in the memory of the Indian Cricket Fans.

Sri Lankan skipper Sangakkara chose batting upon winning the toss. Mahela Jayawardene scored 103 runs to help his team post a good total of 274/6. While chasing, Openers Sachin (18) and Sehwag (0) were dismissed cheaply. Gambhir & Kohli had an 83-run partnership to stabilize the innings. After Kohli got out on 35, Dhoni promoted himself ahead of in-form Yuvraj Singh considering the fact that he can handle Muralitharan's spin in a much better way. While Gambhir scored 97 runs, Dhoni remained unbeaten on 91. India became champions again after a gap of 28 years.

Receiving Padma Bhushan on such a memorable day in his career means a lot for Dhoni and he couldn't ask for anything better. MSD is back in CSK Camp as skipper for the 11th edition.
