Shocking facts about India's Bullet Train route

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's prestigious Bullet Train project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, which costs Rs 1.10  lakh crore, has been criticized since the proposal was announced. An RTI Query seeking information about this route revealed many shocking facts.

Actually, Mumbai-Ahmedabad route is a loss making one for Indian Railways as 40 percent of the seats have been remaining empty. Since July, Railways incurred a loss of nearly Rs 30 crore.

Mumbai-based activist Anil Galgali filed the RTI Query seeking details about the revenue generated by Railways in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route from July 1st to September 30th. Half of the seats in Shatabdi Express, most preferred train, remain empty in this route. Upper Class Seats on Sleeper Trains were left unsold.

Bullet Train with a seating capacity of 700 with Japanese technology reduce the traveling time between Mumbai & Ahmedabad from 8 hours to just over 3 hours.
