Municipal chairperson, councillors boycott ministers' programme

All is not well in the TRS. Even low-level leaders like Municipal chairperson and ward members of a small municipality are not only defying the diktats of the ministers, but are also refusing to attend the meetings attended by the ministers. The recent example of defiance is from Pocharam municipality in Medchal district.

Recently, the statue of great rebel and anti-Nizam warrior Sarvai Papanna Goud was unveiled in Yamnampet village. Minister from the Goud community Srinivas Goud and sitting MLA-cum-minister Malla Reddy were the chief guests on the occasion. Normally, the TRS leaders would go out of the way to welcome such ministers. But, in Yamnampet, many of the division councilors, including chairperson and the deputy chairperson chose to skip the meeting. Even for the unveiling of the statue, hardly a handful of TRS leaders were present.

Of late, a strong section of the TRS is strongly opposed to the minister Malla Reddy. They feel that Malla Reddy is interfering too much in the municipality's affairs.  They accuse the minister of encouraging dissidents. Hence, they stayed away. The matter has reportedly gone to the notice of KTR. He is said to have called for a report on the incidents.
