The poll-bound Munugode went for the polls the other day. The by-election has been in the news due to various reasons like the parties taking it prestigious and the parties offering big promises like money and even gold. Crores of money was reportedly spent on just alcohol bottles for the rallies.
All these factors made the by-poll stay in the news and the discussion among people. It is no wonder that the by-election received a good voting percentage. Despite having a slow start, the vote percentage picked up and recorded good numbers. The vote percentage even surpassed the previous vote percentage.
As per the media reports, the by-poll saw as many as 93.13 percent of voters using their rights. This is not only the highest percentage in the region but also in the state. The previous highest in the region was 91.07 registered in the 2018 general polls. Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy won the polls with a good vote percentage.
If we look at the whole state, the Madhira Assembly Constituency in the Khammam region had registered as much as 91.27 vote percentage which is the highest so far. But the Munugode by-election surpassed this and became the highest polled constituency in Telangana as of now.
After the voting, a few channels spoke to the locals about the money they received and the voters said that they received thousands of money for their vote two parties gave big money and the fight would be between them. On average each voter received Rs 4,000 to Rs 10,000 which is very huge.
This shows the desperacy of the parties to win the polls. Besides big leaders addressing the crowd and holding big rallies, the parties offered big gifts. A few days back reports said that voters received 1 gram of gold from the parties. Money was also seized from a few locations which is said to be brought to distribute to the voters.
In a few days, the election result would be out and we will get clarity on which party won the election and who will get to win the polls and serve as the MLA of the constituency that reportedly became the costliest election in the country as of now.
