A Muslim donating to an RSS affiliate? Unthinkable, one might say. But, an 87-year-old woman from Jammu and Kashmir is so impressed by the social work being taken up by RSS affiliate Seva Bharati in Jammu and Kashmir that she donated Rs 5 lakh to the organisation. She has kept the amount for her Haj tour to Mecca and Madina.
However, due to lockdown, her travel plans were cancelled. Meanwhile, she observed the social work being done by the RSS volunteers in J and K amid lockdown and gave away the amount to the organisation. Her name is Khalida Begum. Interestingly, her family has been working in the army and her father-in-law Col. Peer Mohammad was the president of Bharatiya Jana Sangh decades ago. Her son Farooq Khan is a retirned IPS officer and is currently an advisor to the lieutenant governor of J and K.
