Nationwide MLC Elections: Congress is back

The performance of congress party in MLC elections took many by surprise. The party which was facing defeats saved its face by winning Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar seats. Congress candidate Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy secured an impressive majority of 192 votes against the ruling party in Nalgonda. The Congress winners comprised former MP of Bhongir Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy and the former Zilla Parishad chairman of Mahbubnagar K Damodar Reddy

Of all the 12 MLC seats that went for election this time, Nalgonda was taken seriously by the ruling party and the Opposition Congress and congress has final laugh.Not only in telangana even in Karnataka state also Congress party bagged good number of MLC seats.

Congress continued its winning streak in Karnataka as it has won 13 of the 25 MLC seats in the state legislative council. The BJP won six seats, while the Janata Dal Secular won just four. Independents won two. The BJP lost Shimoga, the home turf of former CM Yeddiyurappa. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah described the victory as a mandate for the Congress.

The old party also showed its mark in  Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) elections on Wednesday.In Mumbai, Shiv Sena and Congress have won one seat each.While Ramdas Kadam won the seat for Shiv Sena, for the Congress Bhai Jagtap emerged victorious.Congress also won the MLC seats in Dhule and Kolhapur.
