As a major relief to the commuters, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) issued a statement over various amendments to the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989.
The central government gave its nod to digitize the required documents, including driving licenses, e-Challans, and maintenance of vehicles. Citizens need not carry these documents physically. The new Motor vehicle rules will come into effect from October 1st.
The mParivahan mobile app that is being provided by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways enables the citizens to store their documents in electronic formats. These documents will be treated at par with the original documents.
The portal provided by the government works in two ways. The details regarding the disqualification and revolving of the driving licenses will be updated in the portal. This helps in monitoring driver behavior.
The details of the document inspection, along with the data and time of the stamp of infections and the details of the officer who inspected the documents shall be updated on the portal. This amendment would set the Citizens free from the unwanted re-checking of the vehicle documents.
According to the new amendments, the motorists shall use the communication devices for route navigation so that they can focus solely on driving rather than bothering about other issues.
