State Capital To Be Named After Vajpayee

Chhattisgarh's proposed new capital Naya Raipur will be now named 'Atal Nagar' in memory of former PM late Atal Bihari Vajpayee. It was Vajpayee who created Chhattisgarh State when he was the Prime Minister of India.

Anti-incumbency against the Raman Singh Government kept growing in the recent years. The Ruling Party has been using Vajpayee's Image to retain power in the Assembly Polls.

Key decisions have been taken by Chhattisgarh Cabinet chaired by CM Raman Singh.

1) Atal Bihari Vajpayee Memorial will be set up in the Capital City

2) Statues of Vajpayee will be installed in the Capital and 27 District Headquarters

3) A Central Park will be established in the Capital in the name of Former PM

4) A Battalion of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) will be called the Pokhran Battalion, respecting Vajpayee's nuclear tests in 1998

5) The Bilaspur University, Newly-built Medical College in Rajnandgaon, Marwa Thermal Power Plant in Janjgir-Champa District and Expressway in Raipur will be named after the 3-Time PM

6) 'Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sushasan Award' will be presented to Panchayats and Corporations for good governance on Chhattisgarh Formation Day, Oct 1st.

7) National-Level Poetry Award will be named after Vajpayee

8) Vikas Yatra to be named as Atal Vikas Yatra
