The issue of whether or not to grant permission for the new year celebration in Telangana is pending with the High Court. A petition challenging the GO that permits the celebrations was filed in the court by a petitioner and the High Court is expected to hear the petition tomorrow.
Amid this, IPS officer C.V. Anand, who recently took over the position of Hyderabad police commissioner, issued new directives ahead of the New Year celebrations to inform what is permitted and what not on the eve of the welcoming new year.
According to the new Hyderabad CP CV Anand, no DJs will be permitted in public places in the state, and if anyone complains about sound pollution to the cops then people who cause sound pollution will not be spared.
The drunk and drive issue will be dealt with an iron fist and the violators will be slapped with imprisonment for not less than six months including a fine of Rs 10,000. The decision is taken as the youth drives vehicles after consuming alcohol.
