Union Government is likely to announce Railway Zone for Visakhapatnam during the upcoming Budget Session.
Recently, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu declared that Centre has increased the no. of zones to 17. So, There is every chance for Railway Zone to Vizag.
Already, Railway Ministry is doing the require ground work before the official announcement. Two Lands have been under consideration for setting up the Zone. Visakha Railway Station have been upgraded. Required AC Longues, Booking Complex, Platforms, Satellite Counters, 50 Closed Circuit TVs, Escalators, Foot-Over Bridges and etc., have been established. Even Jnanapuram Station has been developed and Special Trains have been introduced to meet the demand during festive season.
Visakha Railway Zone might cover three divisions (Waltair, Guntur & Vijayawada). At last, The dream of Andhrites will be fulfilled in the next financial year.
