Nirbhaya case hearing gets delayed as CJI recuses from case

Chief Justice of India SA Bobde recused himself from hearing the review petition filed by Akshay Kumar, one of the four men convicted in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case and adjourned the matter till Wednesday.

The Supreme Court has postponed hearing a review plea filed by one of the four men convicted in the 2012 Delhi Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case. The hearing, which was to take place today, will now take place tomorrow after CJI SA Bobde who was on the bench hearing the case recused himself.

Nirbhaya's parents were also present in the Supreme Court on Tuesday for the hearing.

Akshay Kumar along with Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma, Mukesh Singh, and Ram Singh were convicted of the brutal gang-rape and murder of the 23-year-old physiotherapy student who came to be called Nirbhaya.
