Mercurial Gadkari's Comments Create A Flutter

Update: 2019-05-11 07:02 GMT
Nitin Gadkari is one BJP leader who has mastered the art of saying things that can have multiple, sometimes diametrically opposite meanings. He can be at his cryptical best talking about the goings on in the party. He can be very ambiguously unambiguous while talking about his political ambitions. Without doubt, he is the most mercurial of the politicians of the time.

He is ever willing to stick his neck out and say what he wants. But, at the same time, ensures that he does not fall into the crosshairs of Amit Shah-Modi combine. At the same time he packs punches and directs barbs against Shah and Modi.

Look at his latest comments. He at once made it clear that he has no prime ministerial ambitions. But, he added that the party does not belong to anyone. "It did not belong to Atal-Advani. It does not belong to Modi-shah. It is people's party and Karyakartha's party," he said.  He then said that a weak party can win if it has a strong leader. Does he mean that the BJP is weak and Modi is strong? He also said that the party is doing well under the Modi-Shah combine?

Will the real Nitin Gadkari stand up explain what is in his mind?
