It now emerges that KCR may have proposed but the Election Commission might take its own sweet time in deciding on the proposal to convert the TRS into Bharat Rashtra Samithi. If highly placed sources are to be believed, the process of discussing about the proposal may not begin anytime before the month of December.
As of now, the election commission is quite busy with the bypolls in several states. Then it would be completely involved in the assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. Soon after, there could be elections to various state assemblies early next year. This only means that the EC would be completely preoccupied with this task and may not find time to look into the TRS party's proposal.
As of now, one of the three election commissioners' post is vacant. The post needs to be filled. The Modi government will have to send proposals to President Murmu, who will have to issue a notification. Thus, the full bench of the Election Commission might be formed only in the third week of December. Only after this, the TRS proposal could be taken up for discussion.
Sources say that if the registration of the BRS is delayed, KCR's proposed meeting in New Delhi in December too could get delayed. Meanwhile, the TRS is planning to send another delegation to Delhi to impress upon the Election Commission to expedite the issue of permitting the name change. So, at least till next year, the TRS may not be able to call itself the BRS.
