With a majority of Indians showing their hesitancy in taking the Covid vaccines, the top medical facility in the country, All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) had conducted a study

For the study, the medical facility had examined 62 breakthrough infections and found out that during April-May 2021, none of the people, who received the Covid vaccinations died.

Out of the 63 breakthrough infections, 36 of them administered with two vaccine doses and 27 of them received the first dose of vaccine. Ten beneficiaries were given Covishield, while the remaining received Covaxin doses.

As part of the genomic study of breakthrough infections, the researchers have found out that there are no casualties among the group upon whom the study was conducted. The Covid virus is not getting worse among the group either.

AIIMS had joined hands with the CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology to carry out the study. Those who receive the vaccine doses were the staff members at the medical body.

The B.1.617 variant was found among the samples. The variant was classified into three variants, B.1.617.1, B.1.617.2, and B.1.617.3 by the researchers during the study.

The second lineage was found in 23 samples, while B.1.617.1 lineage was found in four samples. B.1.1.7 lineage was prevalent in one sample.
