No Ban on Pakistan Artistes: Venkaiah Naidu

Update: 2016-10-27 10:27 GMT
Post the Uri terror attack, There is demand for a ban on Pakistan Artistes working in India. MNS imposed a 48-hour deadline for Pak Artistes to leave the country and threatened to stall the release of films such as 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' & 'Raees'.

Information & Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu clarified Centre hasn't imposed a ban on Pakistani Artistes. He added, There are no restrictions what-so-ever on foreign artists working in the country. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has done nothing wrong by mediating between Raj Thackeray and Karan Johar to ensure smooth release of 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil'. 'Personally, I am against ban on foreign artists working in India,' he told.

Venkaiah Naidu, however, advised Directors & Producers to understand and respect the sentiments of citizens when it comes to working with foreign artistes. This gave a feeling that though there is no official ban, Centre doesn't want to encourage the trend of Pakistani Artistes working in India.
