No need to worry, no lockdown will be imposed: Nirmala Sitharaman!

The massive surge in Corona infections in India over the past few weeks has raised the question of another full-fledge lockdown in the country. Fearing another lockdown, the migrant workers have already started to leave to their native places.

Amid this, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman spoke to various business and Chamber leaders on Monday. During the meeting, Sitharaman took inputs from the people present at the meeting on the industry.

As per the media reports, Nirmala Sitharaman has assured the industry heads that no lockdown will be imposed in the country, and the government is focused on saving lives, she said.

The Union Government is responding to the Covid-19 management at various levels and working with the states for the lives and livelihoods, the Finance Minister told the chamber leaders.

Taking to Twitter, the Finance Minister said that, she had spoken to each of the following business/Chamber leaders over the telephone and took their inputs on industry/Association related matters.

In the same tweet, Nirmala Sitharaman said, she had informed them that the Government of India is responding to the Covid management at various levels for lives and livelihoods.

"Spoke on telephone with each of the following business/Chamber leaders. Took their inputs on industry/Association related matters. Informed them that GoI at various levels from @PMOIndia is responding to #Covid management. Working together with states for lives and livelihoods," Nirmala Sitharaman's tweet reads.

In the last 24 hours, India recorded more than 2 lakh cases yet again with 2.73 lakh new coronavirus cases, the highest spike in cases so far. The Country's toll of Covid-19 infections has amounted to over 1.50 crore.
