When Senior IAS officer, known to be quite close to former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao, Nadella Yugandhar, was cremated, there was no usual hullabaloo with VIPs flocking to the home and to the cremation grounds. There were no shutterbugs and no media coverage. It was all a private affair with only near and dear to the family coming for the cremation. No politician was asked to come. When some mediapersons tried to cover the event, they were politely sent back. The whole cremation was simple, solemn and unostentatious.
But, why should the death of a very old and long forgotten IAS officer matter so much? The reason is Nadella Yugandhar is the father of Microsoft Inc CEO Satya Nadella. So, there was unusual interest in covering Yugandharâs last rites. But, Satya Nadella came, attended his father's cremation, performed the last rites and quietly left for the US. The VIPs too were not encouraged to meet him.
Yugandhar had lifelong friendship with another senior IAS officer Venugopal. In fact, both served PV Narasimha Rao together. Satya Nadella's wife is Venugopal's daughter. Despite working in such high profile places, both Yugandhar and Venugopal chose a life of simplicity sans publicity.
