Thummala Nageswara Rao who was associated with TDP for over three decades joined TRS in the year 2014 and he is currently serving as R&B Minister in KCR's regime.
In a recent interview, Thummala revealed an interesting conversation between him and NTR regarding Caste: "Since 1982, I was the only public representative to attend Kamma Sangham meeting every year. I always feel blessed to be born as Kamma. Even for the foundation stone ceremony of Ameerpet Kamma Sangham, I was the only MLA to attend even though there were around 50 Legislators in the party. This happened 3 months after I became a Minister and NTR asked me in harsh tone 'Enti Brother..Enduku Vellaru!' as it might hurt party's prospects. I replied - 'I went there because I was born in that caste & I was proud to be a Kamma'. NTR stood up and hugged me'. Such a peculiar character he is!".
At the same time, Thummala clarifies there is nothing wrong in respecting caste one belongs and that doesn't mean people of other castes were ill-treated. "I don't even know the caste of three of my staff members even though they have been associated with me since the past 30 years. Why because, I have got nothing to do with their caste. I develop a bonding with people who suit my working style. That's It!," he told.
