Hyderabad High Court imposed a stay on the 7-day ban imposed on Telugu news channel NTV by the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry. Justice SV Bhat has passed this order upon hearing a writ petition filed by Rachana Television who was owned by NTV.
Actually, NTV telecasted a midnight program with the name 'Cine Colors' for four months in the year 2012. As several obscene clippings were played, Information and Broadcasting Ministry received several complaints against the program and this led to an one week ban on the operations of the channel from February 3rd to February 9th, 2015.
NTV approached High Court against the ban stating all the songs plays were certified except for the voice over of the anchor and Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act wasn't violated. The stay imposed by High Court came as a big relief to the Telugu News Channel.
