In a shocking development, eastern state Odisha reported the highest spike of pandemic cases in the past 24 hours, and the total cases pass surged the 78,000-mark.
As per the health bulletin issued by the health department, Odisha reported as many as 2,993 fresh infections, and the total cases of the respiratory disease mounted to 78,530.
On the other hand, 10 people breathed their last breath in the last 24 hours and the total casualties in connection with the contagious disease rose to 409.
On a brighter note, 1,773 patients were declared cured of the pandemic in the past 24 hours and so far 52,277 patients have been recovered. The active cases stood at 25,791.
Khurda which is the worst affected region in the state added 606 cases out of the 2993 fresh infections reported in the state in a single day, followed by Ganjam(279) and Cuttack(158).
