The department of telecommunications(DOT) has blocked the websites of taxi service providers like Ola, TaxiForSure and Uber in National capital. The decision was taken up on the request of the Delhi government
So from now Delhi residents would not be able to access these websites and apps to book cabs. Following order from Delhi govt Department of Telecom (DoT) has issued a letter to all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to block websites of all taxi operators.
A DoT official has confirmed sending the notice to ISPs to block the websites. As per the notice if any ISP fail to block the sites, action will be taken against them under Section 12 of the IT Act.
App-based cab services were banned in the Capital after a 25-year-old passenger was allegedly raped by a Uber driver in December 2014. However, both Uber and Ola are still in operation and have applied for radio taxi licenses.
