When things in the country started to look normal and people began to breathe fresh air, Omicron emerged into the world. The newly detected variant had already made it to more than 15 states in the country. The Corona infections caused by the Omicron variant have already crossed the 200-mark and are inching towards the 300-mark.
The new variant has triggered the Coronavirus-like situations in a few states as restrictions have been imposed. The way functions would be celebrated will also be changed going by the current situations.
Maharashtra, one of the severely hit states in the country with the Omicron variant, had imposed a night curfew to curb the infections. As per the restrictions, not more than five people would be allowed to gather together in public places between 9 PM to 6 AM.
Besides this, a cap would be imposed on the number of attendees for marriage and other functions and occasions. 50 percent occupancy came in place for places like the gym, spa, theatres, and other places.
For indoor weddings, only 100 people should be allowed and for outdoor weddings, 250 members should be allowed maximum. Those who violate the guidelines will not be spared and strict action will be taken against the violators.
As precautionary measures, several states have gone for the restrictions and ban on the celebrations for Christmas and New Year. On the days of the festivals, night curfew and restrictions would come into place.
As the Omicron variant has entered the country through air passengers coming from other nations, the state governments are keeping an eye on the passengers and testing them to detect the Coronavirus. Without a fail, they all are being tested for the virus and they would be sent to a medical facility if the Covid test reports come back positive.
Taking the Omicron situation into consideration, a few more states might go for the restrictions taking a cue from Maharashtra. If the cases continue to go up at a similar rate, we might witness several such restrictions in other states as well. Maharashtra is in second place in terms of Omicron cases only next to Delhi.
