Here's a surprise of surprises. On the day when the world celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, it's not just the Mahatma who trended on the social media. His nemesis Nathuram Godse too trended on the social media. For a large part of the forenoon, the Mahatma dominated the micro-blogging site Twitter. There were over 114 K tweets on Gandhi. However, by evening, it was the turn of Godse to take over. Hashtag GodseAmarRahe trended on the Twitter. By 8 PM, Godse outshone Gandhi with over 200000 tweets.

On January 30, 1948, Godse had killed Mahatma Gandhi as he was descending for a prayer meeting at the Birla House in Delhi. Nathuram was remorseless after killing Gandhi and argued in his own defence in the Red Fort, where the trail was conducted. His statement, which runs into 150 pages, has been published under the title " May It Please Your Honour."
