On Unity Day, TRS Men Show Utter Disunity

Update: 2020-11-01 06:38 GMT
Groupism is refusing to die in the ruling TRS in the state. The party leaders are engaged in a bitter war of supremacy at various places. The latest group fight within the party leaders is in the temple town of Vemulavada. The supporters of the municipal chairperson and the deputy chairperson clashed over the issue of protocol on October 31.

Ironically, the occasion was the Rashtriya Ekta Divas or the National Unity day, which falls on the birth anniversary date of iron man Sardar Patel. Instead of showing unity, the two groups shouted down one another and were engaged in a bitter war of one-upmanship.

Even as the meeting of Rashtriya Ekta Divas began, a group led by chairperson Madhavi and vice-chairperson Madhu Rajender clashed bitterly over protocol. While Madhu Rajender objected to the launch of the programme without following the protocol, the supporters of chairperson Madhavi shouted him down. Then even as Madhavi was about to speak, Madhu Rajender's supporters shouted and interrupted her speech.

Vemulavada is beset with intense groupism and several attempts by local MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh to patch up between the two leaders have failed miserably. On Saturday, the two groups had clashed once again leaving a bitter taste in the mouth of the TRS workers and supporters.
