One Month Parole For Rajiv Gandhi's Killer

Nalini Sriharan has been in the prison for the past 28 years after being convicted of involvement in the assassination of Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

The Madras High Court granted parole to Nalini for a period of one month to look after the arrangements for her Daughter's Wedding. During this period, She will have to stay in Vellore itself and wasn't allowed to speak to either media or politicians.

Upon being convicted for involvement in the assassination of the former Prime Minister, Nalini Sriharan was sentenced to death. Tamil Government, however, converted the death penalty to life imprisonment on April 24th, 2000. Nalini was serving jail sentence since 1991.

30-Day Parole begins from July 25th and ends on August 23rd. This is for the first time she will be out on parole for such a long period. Nalini was clad in a golden yellow saree when she stepped out of the Special Prison for Women on Thursday.
