One more India women's cricketer suffers personal loss, loses her mother to Covid

The sporting fraternity in India was hit hard by the ongoing second wave of the novel Coronavirus. A few members associated with the sports have tested positive for the virus, while some of them have lost their loved ones.

Tragedy struck Indian women's cricketer Priya Punia's family after the cricketer lost her mother to Covid. The 24-year-old took to social media to share the news of her personal loss.

The 24-year-old batter, took to her Instagram handle to announce the sad news. Posting about her mother's demise, Punia added that she was always her guide and kept her strong through thick and thin.

In her Instagram post, the batter terms her deceased mother as her guide. Saying that some truths in life are hard to accept, the 24-year-old, said her mother’s memories will never be forgotten.

Saying that the Covid virus is very dangerous, the cricketer urged everyone to be safe and start by wearing masks, maintaining social distancing. She had appealed to everyone to follow the rules and take precautions.

"Today I realized why you always told me to be strong. You knew that one day I would need the strength to bear the loss of yours. I miss you so mom! No matter the distance I know you are always there with me. My guiding star, my mom. Love you always. Some truths in life are hard to accept. Your memories will never be forgotten! Rest In Peace Mom. Please follow the rules and take precautions. This virus is very dangerous. Wear a mask, maintain social distancing, stay safe and stay strong, " her post reads.

It has to be noted that earlier, team India cricketer, Veda Krishnamurthy lost her mother and elder sister to the Covid virus in a span of one month. She announced the sad news on the microblogging site Twitter.
