Only Mamta Didi Can Do Something Like This

Mamta Did has done what she alone can do. She has once again sent mixed signals on the issue of fighting the BJP. She has positioned herself as an inveterate anti-BJP politician on one hand and on the other, she stayed away from the rest of the political parties.

Addressing a public meeting in West Midnapore, she launched a tirade against the BJP. She said the BJP was trying to turn West Bengal into Gujarat and that she would not allow communal riots to happen in her state. She said her government cannot be brought down by using money power and added that there was no question of bowing to the BJP diktats.  She dared the BJP to play its petty games in West Bengal.

But, at the same time, she said that the CPM was acting as the B team of the BjP in the west Bengal. She also made another significant statement, when she said that she would not be a part of the India Bandh called by the opposition parties. With one stroke, she has not just opposed the BJP, but also shown that she is not part of the other opposition parties. She said though she is opposed to the farm laws, she is no part of the Opposition groups and will not be associated with Bharat Bandh.
