Two Ex-Ministers Rebel Against BJP Leadership

Update: 2019-12-14 06:59 GMT
Out of power, fissures are becoming clearer and clearer in the BJP in Maharashtra. At least two heavyweight leaders have openly come out against former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. While Pankaja Munde, former miister and daughter of former Deputy CM Gopinath Munde, has limited herself to expressing her dissatisfaction, another former minister and BC leader Eknath Khadse is indicating that he might even leave the BJP. Pankaja Munde skipped the core committee meeting of the party and has asked the party leadership to remove her name from the committee. But, she said she would not leave the BJP.

Eknath Khadse has been blaming Devendra Fadnavis for the defeat of his daughter in the recent assembly elections. He said a section of the party has worked against his daughter at the behest of Fadnavis. While showering praises on Gopinath Munde, he said Maharashtra is witness to the strange spectacle of an 80-hour Chief Minister. He was clearly targeting Devendra Fadnavis, who was CM for just a 80 hours before he resigned from the pst.

Kadse had to resign from the ministry in the Fadnavis cabinet after corruption allegations surfaced against him. He was denied a ticket and was asked to field his daughter Rohini. However, she lost her seat narrowly. Since then Khadse is unhappy and is of the opinion that Fadnavis has backstabbed his daughter.
