Paritala Sriram says Dharmavaram is his', will resign if not given ticket
All is not well in the opposition TDP in Anantapur. Prominent young face of the party and son of legendary Paritala Ravi - Paritala Sriram has said that he would be the party's candidate from Dharmavaram assembly constituency and has threatened to resign from the party if anyone else is given the party ticket instead of him.
His statement saying that he would contest from Dharmavaram alone and that he would resign from the party if he is not given the ticket have sent shockwaves in the TDP. His comments are clearly directed against former MLA Gonuguntla Suryanarayana, who has announced his intention to contest from Dharmavaram. Paritala Sriram said that Dharmavaram and Rapthadu belong to his family and that while his mother would contest from Rapthadu, he would contest from Dharmavaram. He also said he would not relent even if Chandrababu intervened.
Sriram contested from Dharmavaram and lost to Thopudurthi Prakash Reddy in the 2019 elections. Even after the elections, he has been building up his base and is working hard in Dharmavaram. Now that Suri is also vying for the same post, he dared the party and his rivals with his fiery statement.
Paritala Sriram's mother Sunitha had lost from Rapthadu in 2019 elections and has been maintaining a low profile these days. However, she is continuing to keep in touch with the party rank and file in both the constituencies. By his comments, Sriram has not only dared his rivals in the party, but even party chief Chandrbabu Naidu. It remains to be seen how Chandrababu responds to this.
