'Drishyam' is one film which was highly successful in all the Southern language and even in Bollywood as well. While Mohanlal played the lead in Malayalam version, Venkatesh and Ajay Devagan reprised the same roles in Telugu & Hindi remakes.

In a shocking development, A Killer in Patna took inspiration from 'Drishyam' to destroy the evidence after committing the crime. Cops took Rajnish Singh into custody for allegedly killing a girl Shristi Jain who reached Patna to discuss about their marriage.

During the interrogation, Rajnish Singh confessed to have shot dead the girl after their wedding talks failed  and thereafter tried to destroy the evidence. Having seen 'Drishyam', The accused realised cops might trace him using his mobile location and threw his phone on the passing truck to divert them. He also drowned his Royal Enfield bike in the Ganga, just alike the scene in the movie.

Rajnish Singh and Shristi came to know each other through a matrimonial website. Inspite of getting married already and having two children, The accused wished to marry again and settle down in Delhi. A heated argument took place between Rajnish Singh and Shristi on Jan 25th. While Shristi was on her way to Railway Station to reach Indore where she lives,Singh shot her at point-blank range and fled from the spot.
