It was a shock that Power Star-cum-politico Pawan Kalyan did not brace for. Used only to adulatory gathering and frenzied fans, Pawan the other day faced the ire of the protesters in Kurnool. On Wednesday, Pawan went to Kurnool under police protection in the name of consoling a girl.
But, activists of the Rayalaseema Joint Action Committee took out a huge rally from the Collectorate to the Rajvihar Centre. They were protesting against Pawan Kalyan's controversial statements wherein he called the people of Rayalaseema goons and factionists. The rally was stopped at the Gandhi Statue centre. The police had to arrest over 100 protesters to foil their agitation. Meanwhile, even as Pawan began speaking at the public meeting, a large number of advocates and lawyers has raised black flags protesting against Pawan Kalyan's recent statements against Rayalaseema. The lawyers were shifted from the venue to the police station.
This is the first time that Pawan has faced such protests anytime in his long film and political career. A visibly shaken Pawan continued his speech and left the venue.
