Pawan Kalyan responded on the ban imposed against traditional sports such as 'Jallikattu' & 'Kodi Pandem'. He claims the cows and roosters in his farm made him think about the ban. Not many knew that there're over 16 cows and calves in his personal Goshala.
Jana Sena sees the ban as an attack on Dravida Culture and its integrity. He had observed how much it hurt the people in Dakshin Bharat while shooting in Pollachi and during his political interactions in Andhra. Faulting Government of India which cited Animal Cruelty for ban, PK questioned why don't it bother about the Indian Beef export and Poultry Industry in that case? He points out India is the largest exporter of beef (2.4 million tonnes) in the World and top beef exporting firms are owned by Hindus not Muslims. 'Imagine how many Cows, Calves and Buffaloes should be slaughtered to get 2.4 million tonnes of Beef. Just because we don't see it, This doesn't fall under Animal Cruelty?,' he asks, apart from stating that the no. of animals injured or killed because of Jallikattu is no where close to those slaughtered for business.
PK complains the same Animal Cruelty act was applied to impose ban on Kodi Pandem which has got religious significance associated with Lord Kukkuteswara (an avatar of Lord Shiva as a Rooster to kill asura called Gayasura). He described Kodi Pandem as the cultural identity of Andhras. Pawan shot back, 'Why don't Centre ban Poultry Industry that produces 8.4 lakh tonnes if its really against Animal Cruelty? It will be difficult to keep Nation's integrity intact if the line wasn't draw for this moralistic madness. Jana Sena urges Centre to lift ban on Jallikattu and Kodi Pandem. JAI HIND!!'.
