The Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund, PM CARES in short form, received a donation of Rs 2.25 lakh. The donation came from Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself reportedly.
The sources in the Prime Minister's Office said that Narendra Modi donated 2.25 lakh from his savings towards the PM CARES which was set up to fight the Coronavirus.
The sources in the Prime Minister's Office went on to say that, this is not the first time Narendra Modi donated money as he has a legacy of coming forward and making contributions towards the public causes.
The sources maintained that earlier, Narendra Modi contributed towards various causes, be it, girl child education, Clean Ganga mission, and the welfare of underprivileged people.
The sources added that so far, Narendra Modi made donations towards various causes worth over Rs 103 crore. The biggest amount of donation he made was Rs 89.96 crore.
Narendra Modi raised the amount by auctioning the gifts he received during his tenure as Gujarat CM. He donated the amount to Kanya Kelavani Fund.
