PM Narendra Modi Launches Driver-Less Train, First Ever In India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the driver-less train on Delhi Metro's Magenta Line. The driver-less train is the first of its kind train in India. The service is expected to reduce the possible human errors during the travel.

As a pilot project, the driver-less train service will be first made available between the Janakpuri West in West Delhi to Botanical Garden in Noida. By the mid of 2021, the service will be extended to Delhi Metro's Pink Line/.

The inaugural event of the first-ever driver-less service was held virtually. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the groundbreaking project through a video conference.

Speaking at the inaugural event, Narendra Modi said, the first-ever driver0less metro train services, is an indication to show how the nation is traveling in the path of smart systems.

Narendra Modi remembered the first Metro train in the national capital Delhi, which was inaugurated by BJP stalwart and former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee back in 2014.

Things changed rapidly in the past six years. Back in 2014, only five cities enjoyed metro services, but 18 major cities in the country have metro services now.

During the event, Narendra Modi has also launched the National Common Mobility Card, which offers a variety of facilities like travel, toll duties, retail shopping, and money withdrawal.
