The Union Government has finally approved the amended expenditure of the Polavaram project. The Jal Shakthi ministry has approved the expenditure at Rs 55,548 crore with the prices of 2017-18 as the base. This was revealed b Jal Shakthi deputy minister Ratan Lal Kataria.
The proposal for this effect has been approved by the state government in January last year. Later, the Centre has approved the proposals in February this year. As per the amended estimates, Rs 4318.97 crore have been approved for the Right main canal, Rs 4202.09 crore for the Left main canal, Rs 9734.34 crore for head works, Rs 4124.64 crore for power house works and Rs 33168.23 crore have been approved for R and R works.
Till now the Centre has given Rs 6724.16 crore from April 2014. The next instalment would be released only after the audit report of the expenditure done by the state government is submitted. Though the Centre has requested the TDP government to furnish the audit report, the state government has failed to do so. He also said that there was no request from the state government for GST exemption.
