Demanding reservation for their community, Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham on Friday launched indefinite fast along with his wife. Mudragada along with his wife began the fast at Kirlampudi in East Godavari district at 9 a.m.
Large number of police force deployed at house of Kapu leader and as soon as the Kapu leader sat for the indefinite fast. Meanwhile Police officials posted at his house closed the gates of the leaderâs home. Several of mudragada's followers and Kapu leaders tried to obstruct the police move but the police didn't paid heed to them.
Mudragada demanded the police to open the gates and said the fast will continue till the Kapu demands are met. He appealed his followers not to resort into any violence. District Superintendent of Police Ravi Prakash has personally reviewed the security measures.
Meanwhile orders banning assembly of 10 or more people were imposed in all places of the district.
