Usually, the ministers are very particular about their rights and jurisdictions. They make a huge issue if anyone tries to poke their finger into the ministry. But, things seem to be different in Telangana. The complete control of KCR family on both the party and the Government have literally reduced the ministers to mere figureheads.
Take for instance Telanganaâs home minister Mahmood Ali. He is a home minister in name, but seems to have no real power vested in him. Recently, the MIM corporator of Musheerabad abused the police and the netizens tagged the videos to KTR, who is IT and municipal administration minister. Without even bothering to tag the home minister KTR directly asked the DGP to initiate action against the corporator.
The usual practice is that KTR should have forwarded the request to the minister and direct him to order the DGP to take action against the MIM corporator. But, KTR chose to circumvent the home minister.
Recently, even Harish Rao did the same thing. He made an announcement that a notification for recruitment into the police force would be released soon. Now, Harish Rao practically has no jurisdiction over Home Ministry.
The announcement should have come either from the CM or from the home minister himself. But, in Telangana, the home minister appears to be having no real power whatsoever and decisions are taken without keeping him in the loop.
