Several TRS MLAs are now worried that the Income Tax sleuths are looking into their incomes. If highly placed sources are to be believed, the IT sleuths have sent notices to some 25 TRS MLAs to explain how their income rose in just two years. The IT department found some discrepancies in the details they provided in their election affidavits in 2018 and their present income.
The sudden rise in the income and the assets of some of the MLAs has made the IT department to sit up and take notice. In May this year, they have sent notices to several MLAs in Telangana. Now, notices are reportedly sent to another 25 MLAs. Sources say a tribal MLA from Khammam too was served notice. However, the MLA denied that he had received the notices. Most of the MLAs are carefully ensuring that the news of notices being served on them does not get reported in the media.
IT sources said that they have served notices on those MLAs, whose assets and incomes have gone up by over 10 per cent within two years. They said that this was a normal practice and that they were following protocol. However, the TRS leaders feel that the BJP leadership is behind the plans to attack their incomes and pin them down politically.
