Prakasam District Cops arrest journalist for spreading misinformation on temple attack

Showing over-enthusiasm while carrying out the stories in the attacks on the Hindu Temples costed a high price for many  TV Channels and YouTube channels as several Journalists were arrested by the cops.

Several Channels, News Papers, and even YouTube channels attributed the damage of Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy idols at Singarayakonda to the attacks done by miscreants.

The Prakasam district police probed into the incident and found out that the hands of the idols on the temple arch were already broken after the cement came out of the idols and no miscreants attacked the temples.

The temple EO is said to have told the police that every year the arch will be painted and based on the condition of the arch, it will also be repaired if necessary.

Due to the Corona outbreak, the arch could not be repaired, which resulted in the idols on the temple scratch getting damaged. The repair works were supposed to be done last year.

The journalist working for Channels., News Channels were arrested under the sections of under Sections 120(B), 295(A), 504 r/w 34 IPC for spreading falsehoods on social media and spreading lies on television

AP Police Officers Association urged the media and th public to not believe in such false news and warned that those who spread false news about hurting religious sentiments will not be spared.

The AP Police Officers Association has also slammed the former Chief Minister Chandrababu for seeing CM, Deputy CM and DGP as Christians and said it's disappointing to see a senior politician see the police department from a caste and religious angle.
