A Great Start for Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas kicks off to a great start in Bengaluru which is known to be India's Silicon Valley. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Portugal Prime Minister HE Anthonia Kosta will be attending the 3-day Summit. On the first day, Union Ministers Prakash Javadekar, Vijay Goel and VK Singh took part in it.

Vijay Goel made a key announcement while addressing the NRIs. He told Union Government is mulling to increase the Reservation for NRIs. He urged NRIs to offer their valuable suggestions for improving the standards of the people in the country. Currently, NRIs could avail 15 percent reservation in the country.

HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar told a new policy is being prepared to set up 20 World-class Universities with Government & Private sectors. While Government will established 10 Universities, Private Parties could take care of the remaining 10.

Centre set up Higher-Education Financing Agency with a budget of Rs 2,000 crore to improve infrastructure in Educational Institutions. A programme named as Global Research Initiation Network will be launched soon to offer scholarships for Indian Students to conduct research in foreign universities.
