President, First Lady Insulted In Puri Temple

Update: 2018-06-28 07:14 GMT
The maiden visit of President Ramnath Kovind and his wife Savita to Jagannath Temple in Puri three months ago hasn't gone as per the plan. A group of servitors blocked the path meant for President to walk and pushed the First Lady near the sanctum sanctorum of the shrine on March 18th, 2018.

A strong worded letter was sent to Puri Collector Aravind Agarwal from the Rashtrapathi Bhavan on March 19th regarding this incident. Subsequently, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) held a meeting and show cause notices were issued to three servitors.

To ensure smooth darshan for the VIPs, Devotees weren't allowed to have darshan from 6.35 am to 8.40 am. A Servitor didn't make room for President when he reached Ratna Singhasana in the inner chamber of Puri Jagannath Temple. Few Servitors had even pushed Ramnath Kovind and his Wife when they were having darshan. A probe has been ordered to take necessary action against those responsible for the inconvenience caused.
