On the occasion of BJP veteran and former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee's 96th Birth Anniversary, serving Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed nearly nine crore farmers belonging to six states through video conferencing.

Narendra Modi's address to the farmers came when the farmers have been agitating against the controversial agricultural bills introduced by the centre for a few weeks at the Delhi border.

During the meeting, Narendra Modi has released an amount of 18,000 crore - under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), the second installment of the financial benefits scheme.

Reports claim that the ₹18,000 crore benefits released by the Prime Minister will benefit more than nine crore beneficiary farmer families across the states.

Narendra Modi breathed fire on the opposition parties and alleged them of spreading lies and rumors about the agricultural bills and said, the bills will benefit the farmers.

The PM-KISAN scheme was introduced to lend a helping hand to the small and marginal farmers in the country by paying ₹6,000 per year. The government pays financial aid in three installments.

The ruling BJP has decided to release the second installment today, on the birth anniversary of BJP veteran Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Atal Ji's birthday is celebrated every year as "Good Governance Day" as a tribute to the mark he left on the governance.
