Speculations are abuzz that Priyanka Gandhi will be appointed as Congress Working President to revive the party. These rumours began doing rounds since the Congress Working Committee (CWC) Meeting on August 8th.
However, Priyanka Gandhi's Personal Assistant P Sahay issued a clarification that no such discussion took place at the highest level so far. He termed the reports as a completely fabricated news item.
As per media reports, Senior Congress Leaders including former PM Manmohan Singh suggested Priyanka Gandhi's name for Party Working President post. They believe people would treat Priyanka just alike her grandmother Indira Gandhi. However, Sonia Gandhi isn't keen on elevation of Priyanka as of now because she always wanted Rahul Gandhi to take the responsibility. Priyanka might get active in politics only before 2024 General Elections.
