The beleaguered Congress Party is now using its last weapon in the battle of narratives. The party, which is showing little signs of recovery in Indian politics, now wants to bring in Priyanka Vadra card. If highly placed sources are to be believed, the Congress is now planning to bring her into the Rajya Sabha as part of its efforts to lure the young voters.
Priyanka, who came to the limelight during the recent Lok Sabha electios, has actively campaigned for the party. Though she hasn't managed to create an impression, she did create a flutter in the political circles. So, the party feels that she should be sent to the Rajya Sabha and be projected as a young leader. By April this year, there would be about 55 vacancies in the Rajya Sabha and the Congress is sure to win at least 15 seats. So, Priyanka could be nominated from any Congress-ruled state. Sources said that MP Chief Minister Kamal Nath has already told AICC chief Sonia Gandhi that he would send her to the Rajya Sabha from MP quota.
Through these Rajya Sabha polls, the BJP is likely to win at least 15 seats, including one from Uttarakhand and ten from Uttar Pradesh. The Congress, which has 46 seats in Rajya Sabha is likely to go up to 53 seats. The addition of Priyanka will re-energise the party, feels its cadre.
