Faced with key elections in five states the Congress Party is now facing the worst of times. Key leaders are deserting the party and the BJP is doing everything to accelerate the Congress Partys fall. Nothing seems to be going for them in any of the states. Its safest bet Punjab too seems to be slipping out of the hands.
The BJP threw the Congress Party into confusion by awarding senior Congressman Ghulam Nabi Azad the prestigious Padma Vibhushan. Though its been four days the party has not yet congratulated him. Also neither Sonia nor Rahul nor Priyanka congratulated him. In fact one single tweet could have robbed the BJP of its credit for awarding Azad.
In UP the Congress has already lost key figures like Jitin Prasada Priyanka Maurya and RPN Singh. In Goa 11-time MLA and former CM Pratap Rane has opted out of contest as his daughter in law Divya Rane is contesting from his Poriyem constituency. His son Biswajit Rane is already a minister in the BJP government and is contesting from Valpoyi constituency.
In Uttarakhand, former PCC chief Kishore Upadhyaya has joined the BJP. In Punjab the leadership issue is dogging the party. PCC chief Navjot Siddhu has directly asked Rahul Gandhi to spell out the partys CM candidate Meanwhile CM Charanjeet Channiâs brother Manohar Channi has filed his papers as an independent candidate after the party denied him a ticket.
